Introduction
The agribusiness and value chain management is one of the programs which was launched in Wolkite University as department in 2008 E.C., to generate the skilled agribusiness and value chain management professionals, proffer high quality education as well as to conduct demand driven problem solving researches and community services.
1.Mission ,Vision ,Values and Objectives of the Department
1.1.Vision
v To be the first from East African Agribusiness and Value Chain Management department in quality of education, research and community services by 2027
Mission
Agribusiness and value chain Management has a mission of extending high quality education, conducting problem solving research and community service and generating skilled, proficient and competitive professionals for country development.
1.3. Objectives of the program
The general objective of the program is to create competent, highly skilled and committed Agribusiness and value chain Management professionals capable of bringing difference in commercialization of the countries agriculture.
The specific objectives of the program are:
To produce Agribusiness and value chain Management professionals equipped with the knowledge and ability to enhance commercialization of agricultural development,
To produce socially accountable personnel who would give alternative solutions to agribusiness problems,
To enhance researches in agribusiness and value chain areas,
To promote the concept of comprehensive and multi-disciplinary approaches in tackling agricultural problems
To strengthen consultancy and advisory services, skill up-grading trainings and community development services

2.Graduate profile
After successful completion of the training, the graduates are expected to gain knowledge and skills that enable them to:
Analyze agribusiness sector investment opportunities and limitations; and evaluate investment climate for agribusiness enterprises,
Identify and develop potential value chains for major commodities in the country,
Apply their knowledge and skills to establish and run their own private firms or agribusiness enterprises,
Assist on the identification, appraisal and implementation of agribusiness development polices, projects and programs,
Work as value chain management analysts,
Advise on economic and business matters,
Apply socio-economic researches in dealing with practical issues and concerns,
Work as Extension team member/leader,
Work as trainer, Market expert, Loan officer, Credit expert, and Policy idea generator

Graduation Requirement
Students who are directly admitted from secondary school are expected to take common, core and supportive modules with a minimum of 180 ECTS for graduation. At the end of the program, the student is required to have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 with no “F” letter grade in any course within each module.
Degree Nomenclature: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Agribusiness and Value Chain Management
