Overview of PaP

Program objective:
The general objective of the program is to produce highly skilled veterinary specialists in the area of veterinary parasitology and pathology who are equipped with sufficient theoretical knowledge, practical skills, latest scientific techniques and deep-rooted research caliber to deal with applied research issues, in parasites affecting animals as well as zoonotic pathogens affecting human health.
Specific Objectives
The following are the specific objectives of the program:

  • To offer specialized training that leads to an MSc Degree in Veterinary Pathology, MSc degree in Veterinary Parasitology and PhD in Veterinary Parasitology;
  • Provide veterinarians and related professionals with the latest knowledge and skills in applied pathology, parasitology and immunology of parasites, diagnosis and control;
  • Strengthen the teaching and research activities of the Department as well as those of the College and related academic and research institutions in Ethiopia and other African countries (with possible collaborations);
  • To become nationally, regionally as well as internationally competent academic and research program.

Admission requirements:
 
For MSc in Tropical Veterinary Pathology and For MSc in Tropical Veterinary Parasitology

  • Recognized degree in Veterinary Medicine and related fields such as Human Medicine, BSc in VLT or BVSc
  • Preferably two years of work experience
  • A candidate submits a testimony of financial support

 
For PhD in Tropical Veterinary Parasitology

  • Recognized MSc/MVSc degree in Veterinary Sciences
  • Preferably two years of work experience
  • Priority will be given to candidates from teaching and research institutions
  • A candidate submits a testimony of financial support or letter of scholarship from sponsoring organization
