The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences was established in 2009/10 Academic year with three departments (Plant Sciences, Natural Resources Management and Rural Development and Agricultural Extension) and with about 23 academic staffs. Currently, the college is running six undergraduate and 14 postgraduate programs (11 MSc and PhD programs). In the 2018/19 academic year, the college enrolled about 1408 undergraduate, 47 graduate (Msc) and 10 postgraduate (PhD) students.
The college is situated in Teda Campus (located some 20 Km far from the historic city of Gondar) with expanding teaching and research facilities as well as student services and administrative buildings. We provide intensive practical oriented teaching, research and community services activities basically in five farms representing different agro-ecologies: Teda campus farm, Shinta tree and horticulture nursery, Dabat Farm, Belessa Farm and Gorgora integrated horticulture farm. We conduct interdisciplinary researches in selected thematic areas and provide community outreach and technology transfer services almost in all agro-ecologies of the region.
In its research and community engagement endeavours, the college works in close collaboration and partnership with academic, research and development institutions, both inland and abroad.
