Department Of Statistics
Statistics department is one of the departments of College of Natural and Computational Sciences in Samara University. It was established since 1999 E.C together with other departments of College of Natural and Computational Sciences, though it did not enroll students at that time.
The department is giving an undergraduate program in regular level started from 2005 E.C. The students will be admitted to the department when they fulfill the criteria which have been approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in Ethiopia to pass and enter to higher institution.

Depending on this orientation the students will choose a department in which they need to be specialized. To be admitted to the B.Sc. program in Statistics, a candidate should satisfy the general admission requirements of the respective Universities and the students are good in mathematical calculation.
Statistics, as one of the computational sciences, is concerned with the organization, presentation, analysis and interpretation numerical facts (data). The scope of Statistics is broad and encompasses mathematical and theoretical investigation, experimental observation, computing technique, technological application, material manipulation and information processing. Statisticians are very close relation with research and they are easily feed and analyze any type of data using different statistical software.
Therefore, the program makes the students are excellent in coding, managing, analyzing and interpreting the facts that happed by the persons in scientific way. It is with the intention of producing such Statisticians for the country that nationally harmonized curriculum has been developed and implemented in 2009 for regular undergraduate students. After completed the program the students are awarded B.Sc. degree in Statistics. The duration of the study is three year.
