Bule Hora University is one of the youngest universities of the country established by Proclamation No. 650/2009 that governs higher education institutions which started with five colleges in 2011, presently embrace eight colleges and one school. Out of these, College of Agricultural Science (CoAS) is the one that currently has been running Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) program in seven Departments:
In addition to these undergraduate programs, it has been already set and begun two Masters of Science Degree (MSc) program which already begun in 2018/2019:
- Animal Breeding & Genetics and
- Plant Pathology.
Furthermore, the college started to deliver Continues Education Program (CEP) in weekend program in Natural Resource Management (NaRM) at Adola Center and Animal & Range Science at Uraga Center in 2018/2011E.C.

College of Agriculture works to provide quality education, conducts problem based researches, gives demand driven community services and enhance leadership and good governance.
College of Agriculture aspires to be college of choice and a center of excellence in animal production, crop production, natural resource conservation and making our recognizable in Ethiopia, then East Africa ahead of 2025.

- To increase competent students who will play significant roles with respect to teaching, searching, offering consultancy services, policy advisory services and active development practitioners in various government, NGOs, and private enterprises.
It’s our standing point, that our college has planned to establish enormous laboratory in Animal Nutrition, Animal Anatomy, Animal physiology, Parasitological laboratory, Soil Analysis Laboratory, Soil Chemistry laboratory and crop production related laboratory in Integrated Pest Management (IPM), biotechnology, Plant Morphology and Herbarium etc.
College of agriculture tries its best to establish research centers in collaboration with the research directors and to explicitly integrate our university and make innovative; it is to increase availability of improved production systems through supporting organized, entrepreneurial, and innovative production and distribution by our university collaboratively with the surrounding smallholder farmers. The collage is going to take a major share in coordinating the schemes, has been deriving significant side-benefits that strengthen the quality of education, research, and extension it provides. In attempting to realize the objectives of research endeavors at our college and university; and in improving the standing of our University in the public concern and addressing its excellences in teaching and learning process, research and community services as it accentuated our performance on community engagement.

The research locations have to improve the relevance of the agricultural research conducted by the university, making it more action oriented and enforcing our extension and development mandates. Furthermore, it provides a greater evidence-base for the rationale of the tasks to be done. The plan has increased the number and strength of the University’s partnerships with farmers and other stakeholders.
The vision of the research site is to be center of excellence in animal production, animal feeds & nutrition, crop production and natural resource conservation.
The mission of the site is to produce skilled manpower in animal production, crop production and natural resource through relevant and quality education both in theory and practices. The research center will conduct both basic and applied research in demand-driven area and disseminate the same stakeholders.

The research site has also led to a wider opportunity for engaging undergraduate and post-graduate students in research relevant to addressing the small-holder farmers’ problems that constrain their change and development. Farmers have been brought on board to identify research problems, formulate research questions, and conduct research in partnership with our researchers. This has inspired our students and research staff to not aspire to simply re-invent the wheel, but rather solve farmers’ problems by thinking ‘out-of-the-box’. Thereby, they are vital to the innovation process, striving for pluralistic and vibrant activities.
